This is my little brother Bennett and he is important in my life because he does a lot of things with me like play soccer or basketball and does other little things like getting my phone charger for me that make me really appreciate him.

Bennett is an outgoing, goofy, and all around happy kid which explains all of the weird faces and his constant smile. He is also a sports junky/ Daredevil and is constantly outside with a soccer ball or basketball or riding his bike so i thought it would be a good idea for him to do some tricks outside with the soccer ball and to climb the tree. Thats also why i took a lot of pictures of him outside not only for the lighting but also because thats where he likes to be most. And even though he is quiet outgoing he still has his little shy and independent side which is shown in the first picture where he is kind of hiding behind the fence posts and in the fourth picture with him on his phone.

This unit has effected my photography a lot and has shown me the importance of good lighting and how an improvement in lighting can make a huge improvement of the photo. It makes me want to take the time to find good lighting before taking a photo instead of just pointing and shooting.

  1. The portraits of your younger brother make him look funny and athletic. These characteristics are portrayed in the photos that you took because of the way you had your brother pose. As an example, the picture with he and the fence shows his happiness. The picture with the soccer ball also obviously makes him look pretty athletic. The photos show that you had a fun time photographing your brother, and that he had fun too. The lighting of the photographs was perfect. The natural lighting was a great idea for those portraits. They did a great job telling a story about your brother. The only suggestion I would offer is to lessen the amount of background noise. You take great photographs, so don’t let the background distract the audience from the subject!

  2. 1. The personality of the model is that he is very active and knows how to have fun in front of the camera. He knows how to be fun and likes to play sports
    2. What is successful about these photos is the focus. The active shots are very well focused on the moving subject
    3. Suggestions
    • When taking close up shots make sure that there isn’t and object in the view of the camera

  3. 1) The viewer is able to tell that the model has an outgoing, goofy personality because of the way that the shots were taken with his smiles and weird facial expressions.
    2) I think that these shots were really, really successful in showing the viewer about the model’s personality. The portraiture helps to tell a story about him and what he enjoys. The majority of natural lighting successfully contributes as well with showing that he enjoys being outdoors where he isn’t confined to certain things.
    3) I don’t really have any suggestions; maybe have a greater variety of lighting within the five photographs so the viewer can have a greater understanding of the model’s personality.

  4. 1. I think it was a good idea using her little brother as a subject for this assignment because it allowed him to be himself and still make great photos.
    2. I like that she chose to do this in the snow because all little kids love snow so he looks really happy in all of the pictures.
    3. I think you should keep all the photos outside because it will make all the photos kind of flow together.

  5. 1. The way you incorporated him playing sports made it obvious he was athletic. You can see he is adventurous by the photos of him outside in the tree. He seems like a young and happy kid
    2. The outside lighting ones look really good because of the way it accentuates his freckles. The inside lighting is good as well by the way is softens his face.
    3. I would put one or two of the photos in black and white to give a more dramatic effect.
